7 Things About Danielle Colby Cushman American Pickers Cast: Radically Hot!
I personally like this show since the very first time I watched it, and the men were panning through stacks of junk looking for that gold nugget thing I was mesmerized! I’m a flea market, and a yard sale junkie myself, and watching the show was vicarious fetishism that is pure! But they called the office, and Danielle Colby’s hot self popped on the screen – I was intrigued.
Danielle’s American Pickers Description on The History Channel:
A mom of three, Danielle (Pickers), or Dannie Diesel, is always focusing on a new project that is creative, whether it’s painting, designing garments or selling classic-inspired gifts online.
What they failed to mention is that one of Danielle Colby’s “creative jobs” is founding a burlesque troupe in the Quad Cities region of Illinois and Iowa, Burlesque Le’ Moustache!
Not only is Danielle Colby Cushman is from the American Pickers cast, she is also the creator of Burlesque Le’ Moustache, and the performer and director! Yep, Danielle shows just about everything under her stage name, Dannie Diesel, performs comedy routines and struts her things:
In an astonishingly extensive post by River Cities’ Reader, Danielle talks about Burlesque and how she decided to head that way:
She states she was raised in “a very loving but strict family” of Jehovah’s Witnesses, the 34-year old Danielle (American Pickers) said when she was “10 or 12 years old that her curiosity about burlesque started.” But her fascination with this very particular art form didn’t completely take hold until six years past when Colby Cushman and her husband and kids were living in Chicago, and she attended a performance starring comedienne Margaret Cho and burlesque artist Satan’s Angel.
It was amazing,” says Danielle Colby-Cushman of the show’s ensemble, flattering the group of comics, singers, dancers, and striptease artists. “Growing up in a strict household, I believe I went into that evening thinking that burlesque was taboo and wrong and awful. But I realized at the event that it was very liberating, to be with girls on stage who were ranging to a size from large to petite – all different kinds of women, with many different strengths.
“I left thinking if I have stretch marks ‘Who cares? Who cares about my size, it doesn’t matter at all. What matters is that I enjoy myself.’ That’s the feeling I left with, and it was life-transforming, and at that stage, I knew I needed to do it [burlesque].”
Well, I for one find Danielle Colby hot and have no shame in admitting it.
If you think that is the only surprise she has for you, think again as there is yet another interesting fact in Danielle’s Pickers cupboard!
Danielle was part of a roller derby team!
Danielle Colby in YuppiePunk.org:
I was the founder of a roller derby team and after 3 years of roller derby, I pretty much ripped upward. I was the owner of the Big Mouth Mickies, which has been just a group of Irish ladies that got together because we wanted to do roller derby. However, I believe the shelf life of a roller derby girl is like three to five years. And we missed doing roller derby — and I’ve desired so I just decided to do burlesque for a long time— let ’s start a burlesque troupe.
Burlesque Le’ Moustache is myself and 5 other girls — from both the Big Mouth Mickies and Quad City Rollers.
Danielle’s American Pickers’ edgy conduct and alternative yumminess weren’t a happy accident, though.
Mike needed someone in the office that looked nothing like someone who does work at an antique shop:
He needed killer, radical, fun and amazing and boy did he get it!
